A24 has unveiled the inaugural movie poster for the highly anticipated wrestling drama, The Iron Claw, accompanied by the powerful tagline, “Sons. Brothers. Champions.” The poster strikingly captures the bond of the Von Erich brothers within the wrestling arena, heightening the intrigue surrounding this upcoming film. Personally, I’ve been eagerly anticipating this movie and can’t help but speculate that a trailer might be just around the corner.
Starring A-listers such as Zac Efron, Jeremy Allen White, Harris Dickinson, and Holt McCallany, The Iron Claw delves into the captivating biography of the legendary Von Erich family, renowned in the wrestling world. The narrative intricately chronicles the “rise and fall of the family dynasty of wrestlers who made a huge impact on the sport from the 1960s to the present day.”
In this cinematic venture, Efron steps into the shoes of Kevin Von Erich, while White embodies the character of Kerry Von Erich, and Dickinson portrays David Von Erich. McCallany, on the other hand, portrays Fritz Von Erich. As these brothers grapple with each other inside the ring, their lives outside are plagued by a series of tragedies, famously known as the “Von Erich curse.”
The film, meticulously crafted by the talented writer and director Sean Durkin (known for Martha Marcy May Marlene), also features Lily James as Kevin’s wife Pam, and Maura Tierney in the role of the family’s matriarch, Doris. With a compelling storyline and a stellar cast, The Iron Claw promises to be a gripping portrayal of a wrestling legacy marred by both triumph and tragedy.
The Iron Claw will be released on December 22nd.
